Background: KCSM-TV is a PBS station affiliate located in San Mateo, California.

1st (known) Logo
(1976-1987)

Logo: This logo consists of what looks like a beach with, in the upper-left hand portion of the screen, the KCSM logo at the time (consisting of a futuristic "60" colored
orange, being cut off from the top right portion by "KCSM-TV" in white Antique Olive font, and underneath that text, "San Mateo - San Francisco" followed by a small version of the 1970s PBS "Tri-Colored Everyman" logo.

FX/SFX: None; it's a still logo.

Music/Sounds: Just an announcer saying "You're watching KCSM-TV, public television for San Mateo on channel 60.".

Availability: Extinct; only seen as a "You're watching..." local ID back then.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo
(1978-1993)

Note: Can be seen <a href="https://youtu.be/jZ-RKc105IQ" target="_self">here</a>.

Nickname: "Wireframe City"

Logo: On a
blue background, we pan downward to a white outline of a map of the San Francisco Bay Area with a grid filled in, along with two yellow stars. When the camera stops panning down, wireframe outlines of the San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge pan up, and one of the yellow stars turns into a yellow semi-circle, almost like a sun. Then, "KCSM", in Antique-Olive font, shoots from the other star, with yellow, orange, and red flares following behind.. After "KCSM" settles in place, "SAN MATEO/SAN FRANCISCO" appears below.

FX/SFX: Early Scanimation/computer effects.

Music/Sounds: Most clips of this logo feature countdown beeps as its music.

Availability: Rare, but extinct on TV. Seen at the start of Computer Chronicles episodes from that era, even with WITF co-producing the show. Most of them are available on the Internet Archive, so it shouldn't be hard to find.

Editor's Note: It is well known due to its cheap graphics and longevity.

3rd Logo
(1998-2008)

Logo: Over an image of the earth focusing on California, the circle P-Head logo fades in, as does "KCSM", colored
aquamarine. Circling the P-Head is "Learning for a lifetime", and "Productions" fades and zooms out below.

FX/SFX: All the animation in the logo.

Music/Sounds: A mystical synthesizer jingle.

Availability: At the end of 2000's "Sit and Be Fit" (originally produced by KSPS) and 2000's "Body Electric" (originally produced by WFSU) episodes.

Editor's Note: None.
